Christmas is only a few days away. Hopefully you have finished most of your shopping and are planning that Christmas get-together; or maybe you have been invited to spend the day with family or friends. How can you avoid “losing it” when it comes to maintaining your weight program at a time like this? First, you must remember that one meal never resulted in someone becoming overweight or obese. It’s the lifestyle! To splurge at one meal is generally not fatal to your plan, but you must be careful because the exception can easily become the rule. Watching the portion sizes is very important. If you are going to splurge, do it with the vegetables and not with the entrée or dessert. Limit the amount of liquids consumed. Remembering that a calorie is a calorie and juices and punch are high in calories. Make sure you enjoy the fellowship and eat slowly so that the feeling of fullness coincides with the speed at which the food is consumed. And don’t forget whose birthday it is, and seek to honor our Savior on this blessed holiday! “1 Cor. 10:31 says, “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”
